The growing expenses of Poles can be seen in specific examples of three centres from Newbridge’s portfolio – Nowe Czyżyny in Kraków, Nowe Bielawy in Toruń and Nowa Górna in Łódź. These facilities recorded a nearly 20% increase in expenditure per customer compared to June 2019, the period before the pandemic.
One of the reasons for such a jump is that Poles are less afraid of shopping in the store and generally relaxed, which can be seen both in the steadily growing number of customers and in the increasing amount of time we spend shopping.
But that’s not the only factor that affects the value of the shopping cart. In June, social life also revived, which generates new purchasing needs.
In the case of Newbridge centres, customer expenses are influenced by one more thing – the openness of Newbridge centres during lockdowns. At that time, more than 50% of the offer was available, the magnet was also an extensive, multi-segment tenant-mix, which made shopping centres in Krakow, Toruń and Łódź an ideal destination for everyday shopping.
