Newbridge is going to show the customers visiting its shopping malls how to be eco-friendly every day. This will be facilitated by the innovative environmental education programme “Eco Smart” which will be implemented at Nowe Czyżyny in Kraków, Nowe Bielawy in Toruń and Nowa Górna in Łódź in February this year.
The project will consist of a series of ecological workshops and events as well as initiatives dedicated to sustainable development, addressed to people of all ages. The project itself aims to provide information how to minimize negative impact on the environment.
This will be achieved both through educational content that will be displayed in shopping mall passages, for example in the form of posters, as well as events planned for 2020. The “Eco Smart” calendar will be filled with workshops for children and adults devoted, for example, to waste segregation and reduction of energy consumption, but also other events, including eco-picnics and events engaging the local community. Some of the events will be carried out in cooperation with partners such as Leroy Merlin and Carrefour.
The project initiated by Newbridge is in line with the global trend present in a growing number of shopping centres, also in Poland. The “Eco Smart” programme is yet another environmental initiative by Newbridge. Earlier this year the Nowe Czyżyny shopping mall in Kraków and Nowe Bielawy in Toruń have obtained a “very good” score in the BREEAM In-Use certification process. Numerous investments have been made in the shopping malls and new sustainable development policies have been implemented. Among the investments it is worth mentioning 60 pots with plants placed around Nowe Czyżyny. The plants include also the species which are bee- and bird-friendly.
